95 octane

Hi all,

It's been 1 week since I'm the proud owner of a 2005 Dodge Ram 5.7 HEMI 4x4. (Finally, after 4 month of searching  ) I got it from a military that is stationed at an army base in Germany. It is 100% US specs.

As far as I know the engines are optimized for 87 octane gasoline. However 87 octane is something most people here in Europe have never heard of (not talking about military personal that can refuel on base). The gasoline you can get here is either 95 or 98 octane.

I read that feeding my engine 95 octane wouldn't give me any advantage over 87 octane and that on the contrary it would cost some power instead of adding some.

Would a programmer do the job and get the engine to take advantage of the extra octane? If yes, which programmer would be best for that and would I be able to find setup files to download or a tech sheet that tells me what parameters to change?

Yeah the only way you can take advantage of that octane fuel is to buy a Diablo and add some timing. You might have to shoot an email to some tuners asking them exactly how much but I'd start with 2-3 degrees and go from there.

You know...Mike at Diablo might be able to help you too. You should post this on the DSP forum.
Ok, I'll try to get in touch with him.

Thx.
