When I push the parking brake pedal down it feels like it has slight resistance (from the spring) but It just pops right back up. I was at the junk yard today getting other parts and the good parking brakes 1. were harder to push down 2. made clicking noises 3. stayed down after being pressed. what might be the fix for this? I took a short video but not sure how to upload it

I literally just dealt with something similar the other day on my truck. First thing to check is that you've got tension on your parking brake cable and it's not very loose (this would rule out that it's not the cable, it's the ratcheting mechanism).

In my case, there was not enough tension and it would not pull down the rear of the parking brake cable and cause it to ratchet. Next step would be un-bolting the three bolts that hold it in and see what's going on (if the above fails).

For a video, try uploading to imgur. It's free and I don't think you need an account.

I assume you're talking about the cable that runs under the truck and not the one attached to the hand lever. (I think my inside hand lever cable needs to be replaced also). But how did you fix your tension? did you have to get a new cable. I was watching a video that said the parking brake components on the rear wheels get seized and cause the cable to hang or have problems.

Somewhere under the frame along the driver side you will see something similar to this. I had to adjust mine almost to the max to get enough tension on the cable so that it would ratchet properly. https://www.amazon.com/Dodge-Parking-Brake-Tensioner-Mopar/dp/B07XF1RQHX

They also make things like this which can take even more slack out if something is up with your cable. https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-03006-Univ-Brake-Cable/dp/B000COB3TG/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=parking+brake+slack+adjuster&qid=1653793809&sprefix=parking+brake+slack,aps,64&sr=8-5

Also, see my post here for what I found for the lengths of cables and things.

thanks for the post. I was looking into the same website for cables. I found that the cable was broke under the truck so I'm just gonna check everything down there and find out what to order, but first I have to make sure the transmission isn't locked because. I was having trouble rolling it in neutral yesterday
