2006 Ram 2500 5.9l Diesel, Serviced truck today, oil filters etc, and put two new batteries in truck due to not starting, truck sits most of the time and is not driven daily. After serviceing the truck, went to start the engine, wait for fuel to prime and after starting the belt had a loud screaming noise. shut the truck off, and found that the air compressor is locked up, broke serpentine belt in process. Does anyone have any idea what would have caused this to happen. Pully on ac compressor is locked, and very hot after shutting the engine off. Not a mechanic, need help.

Thanks

If the compressor bitten and the pulley is stuck, the belt will break.
But if the compressor used separately, the AC compressor lock-up will not affect the driving. However, if the compressor and other components (battery lamp) share the belt, it will affect safety.
I’ll suggest you change to a new compressor. And it's better to find an auto repair shop to replace it for you.
Make sure they have a deep clean to the whole system as well.
