Hey Guys,

Newbie to the forum, today is my first day.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a guard that is produced that I could buy for my truck. I have a 2011 2500 Longhorn Laramie, and just got it back from the Dodge dealer today because I had "something" penetrate the a/c condenser this past weekend while I was attending a funeral in West Texas. It was not a fun experience, it was a 3 hour drive. Thank God the OAT was only 75.

Anyhow, I'm thinking of fabricating something if necessary, but before I go spending a weekend making one, was wondering if anyone knew of one that worked well.

The issue this weekend cost me $720 smackers, and it really pissed me off considering my truck only has 2100 miles on it! So obviously I want to prevent this from happening again.

And what's with Dodge Engineers leaving a BIG freakin hole in the grill. My last Dodge 09 Ram Crew cab wasn't exposed like that in the front.

Thanks for any information or assistance you can provide.

Thanks for the welcome Huntergreen.

Yeah I wish it was covered under warranty, but its considered a driver induced issue. My wife gave me an idea to call my insurance company and put in a claim (which i did), so I will wait to hear back from them to see how they view it.

I have no idea what hit it that could have pierced the condenser, but seeing that the unit is exposed right below the grill in between the tow hooks doesnt seem to make sense to me why Dodge would leave such a big gap in the front of the truck like they would.

Anyways, will keep you posted. Thanks for the welcoming!

I've seen some people fab up a "gaurd" using materials like stucco lath/mesh. Works pretty well. I plan to do this at some point just to keep the condenser/radiator clean from big bugs and the swarms of love bugs we get here.

Which Grille do you have? If it's the chrome slat one maybe you can buy the MOPAR diamond style chrome grille. There will still be holes, of course there has to be, but the surface area that's open would be a lot less. Good luck either way...Sorry about the issues, just bad luck I suppose cause I have never seen it...:thk:
