I have a 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 with 6.7 diesel engine with 23,000 miles. Last Month my ABS light starting to light up and then go off. It would light up and go off about 4-5 times in a row then stop. the worst part is the chiming every time it lights up. Basically drives you crazy! I brought it in on March 17th, 2020. The service advisor calls me and says ABS Module and Hydraulic Unit is bad and needs to be changed. He tells me the part is on order and usually takes a couple of days. A week later he calls and says I need to pick up truck cause they are closing dow due to the Covid-19 Virus and should be back to work in about a week or so. Two weeks later I noticed dealer is open, so I call service advisor. He says let me check with my parts department and I will get back with you. Well waited 2 days and never received a call. I call him and he says still haven't got part and not sure when part will be in but it was ordered.

This is where it gets frustrating. I then call parts department, and speak to parts lady she tells me that part was ordered on Friday April 15th should be here on the 19th. I said service advisor said part was ordered on the 17th of March. She laughed and said no it wasn't. So now I am getting mad. They waited a month to order a part. I call back on the 19th still no part, she says it shows a delivery date of 29th of April. Call back on the 29th still no part.

So I decide to do a little research on this part and speak with a Mopar Parts Supplier. Come to find out the ABS Module part number 68347098AB is "MANAGED ALLO LVL 2-PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP DEC 31, 2020. Parts supplier said this was given to us by Mopar. Part is unavailable.

I call back the dealer parts department and ask if part is in again. The lady says nope it shows its ordered and we should receive it anyday. This is when I finally had enough. I told her you are not telling me the truth. I said the part is under review until the end of the year and is not being released. I said you can't look that up in your system. She said hold on, then get back on the phone and says your right, we don't know when the part will be in!!!! Now Im pissed cause they didn't even check or inquire why part is taking so long.

I then ask her to forward me to the service advisor, which she does. Well as you can guess I get his voice mail. I leave a message for him asking for a call back. As of today I have not heard back from him. This dealership is the worst, their communication with customers is the worst I have ever seen.

Now I am basically forced to drive around with a truck that has ABS and Traction lights constantly going off and on all the time with the chiming.

This was my first Dodge truck and looks like might be my last. The

Hi @Mrea09 - I am incredibly sorry to hear of the frustration that has been associated with working with your dealer. This is absolutely not what we expect for our customers and I would like to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist who can work alongside both you and your dealer to try and get the part in as soon as possible. Please follow up with me via private message to provide your VIN, dealer name, and contact info so that I can move forward on this. Thank you in advance.

This truly stinks. I can get past the part not getting ordered thing in March if they suddenly got the word they were shutting down for 2 weeks or something. But if this guy dont call back here in a day or so, get a call into the dealer principal or GM who ever is the "big guy" Tell him whats been going on and you would like to have some info back in a day or 2 at most. Because you have records the truck has been in and they are forcing you to drive a vehicle they will not service with a safety issue with brakes. Are they going to pay for the damages of a wreck?

I wouldn't be surprised if you were in Fort Polk, Louisiana because I'm having similar issues with Benoit Ram. After numerous attempts to get them on the phone (or get a call back once they did answer) I finally went in personally to schedule servicing on my ABS. All they wanted to discuss is the open recalls, which I don't want them welding my steering linkage. I told them about my current issues with the:
  • Traction Control / Service Anti-Lock Brake System (same issue as you)
  • Sunroof leaks (water pours out the pillars)
  • No heat (stat good, coolant flowing, actuators open/ close)
...and all they want to discuss is the stupid recall.

I have an appointment on 12 February but my truck is a POS and their service is equally as bad. I'm not expecting much more than an argument. Customer service is not that hard. I look forward to hearing how you quest ends. Good luck to you.

This is the same problem I am having with my 2018 Ram 4X4 2500. It started at 37,000 miles. Just out of warranty. We pull a travel trailer and the Service ABS System goes off all the time. Chimes every time the warning lights blink! Dealer says they can pull the codes but that would cost me $130. Then they cannot tell me what is wrong so the want to start replacing parts until the problem goes away... 🤬
This is a safety recall issue and RAM is going to cause injury. Im glad we all have this documented!

I have a 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins diesel I use to tow a travel trailer. At 35K miles the ABS module and hydraulic pump went bad. Unfortunately the warranty expired August 2020. I found this out because I kept getting error messages to service the electronic braking system. I called the dealer and was given an appointment for the next day but was told it would be 48 hours before they could even diagnose the issue. I needed the truck for the weekend so I took it to an independent mechanic I've been going to for 30 years who diagnosed the defective ABS module and hydraulic pump. Fixed it the same day. Cost me $1300 parts and labor. This is outrageous that a truck this expensive would have parts that go bad in such a short time. I asked my mechanic if is he putting in the same parts (but new) and he said yes but hopefully the parts manufacturer upgraded the parts but he couldn't guarantee it. He said he has replaced a lot of ABS modules and pumps on Chrysler products. FCA has dropped the ball on this. I called Ram Cares and they were very nice but said sorry nothing we can do and no recalls "but we'll open a file on this and let you know if anything changes in the future." Basically they were telling me I'm SOL. I'm a lawyer and I am looking into a class action lawsuit on this issue. My wife has a Lexus SUV with double the miles and has had nothing major like this go wrong. Too bad Toyota doesn't make a 3/4 ton diesel pickup.

Took my 2018 2500 on a trip this week for the holidays. I have been having the service abs system light ping off and on intermittently previously. It is now staying on. pretty frustrating that the abs seems to be a weak system On these trucks. I guess I’ll take it in when we get home. Ill hit 50,000 miles on the way home.
