I have a 2004 Ram and the AC blower fan motor stays on all the time even when I shut off the truck and pull the keys. Any idea's? I have no idea what to do except to start pulling out the cash that I don't have right now. Any help would be great.

Fan/thermal relay.

This is the first gen section, but I'll venture that the fan/thermal relay under the dash is bad. There's is actually another name for it but I can't think of it right now.
You think that would make the fan stay on? I just had to replace my battery because it came on by itself I guess and it wiped out the battery over the weekend.

It could be the problem or an early indication of a bad FCM.

I'm willing to venture the guess is the relay and it's staying on, or kicking back on once the vehicle warms up. Did you have the air on when you shut it off?

Just a note. Even though this is posted under the 1st gen section, I'm going off your info as an '04 Ram. Is that correct?

AC fan

Yes, it is a 2004. Actually as of last year sometime when I would try to shut off the fan it would never go all the way off. It acted as if it was just on low speed but now it doesn't matter if it is on high or low. I pull the keys and get out and it is still on. To make it sound even more strange, it will be off when I leave it and I get back in the truck later to leave after I made sure it went off and it will be back on. I have read in other forums that it could possibly be the ignition switch. What do you think? P.S. What's an FCM?

I figured out the problem. The electronic part of the ignition switch is under the steering cowl on the left hand side/blinker side. I had to disconnect the tilt mechanism and the actual part had 2 screws in it but 3 different types of catch pins on it. Thank god for my patience or I could have jerked the thing out and caused a buttload of problems. Two of the pins in the part pretty burnt which it was a relief that I had the right part. If anybody ever needs the part# its Mopar 56045112AE. Everything is working fine now.

Hi I was having that same problem. Everytime I would shut off my 2004 ram and take the keys out (if the fan speed wasn't off) it would continue to run on the set speed. There ended up being a problem with the ignition switch which I replaced with one from autozone which has a lifetime warranty and was only $40

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I didn't realize that the first post said that his truck was 1993 and older. And I figured I could help reassure other people who had this problem because I sure had this problem in the present and not 5 years ago. Thanks for the help!😊
