Hey Guys, I have a 2006 Ram 2500 Cummins that I just paid off. I want to tow a new 5th wheel that exceeds my max tow rating. Is there any way you can modify the suspension without jacking it up and gain some much needed towing capacity? I have a 4x4 and there is nearly a foot between tire and fender as it is. I don't want to make it any worse, the Mrs almost needs a ladder as it is now. Even WITH full running boards. The truck only has 60,000 miles on it and I really don't want to trade trucks if I don't have to. Truck is bone stock.

Looking at one that is right at 18000lbs. that is Trailer weight and weight of the crap inside. I have a small Raptor Toyhauler that is a bumper pull and am looking to go bigger with a 40 ft 5th wheel. I have the motor to pull it, and am only about 1000 lbs shy, but I'd like to give myself a cushion and go to something around 20,000 lbs. I am hoping for something simple like beefier springs etc. Not really interested in a lift kit if I can avoid it. I know about Kelderman, but geesh, I could buy a new truck for what they want.

I know on the 4th gens there's not much difference between the 2500/3500's but the rear springs are one of them. The frames are the same and most have the same rear diff as well. I would find out what rear diff your truck has first off. If it's an 11.5" it will handle it no problem. It wouldn't hurt to do some research regarding the 3rd gen frames too and if they're different between a 2500/3500. Then I'd probably just look into an airbag kit to help out the suspension. You don't need a full air suspension like Kelderman, just some helper bags. Check out Airlift to start.
