How often do you all change your Air Filter? How often does Dodge recommend it being changed? I know someone on here can give me an answer quicker than what I could look it up..

The dealer had my truck today to do an oil change and the service guy calls me to tell me I need a new Air Filter. Of course @ $38.00 I can easily do it myself. Just curious as to how often you all change yours. My truck only has 6500 miles on it and find it hard to believe that it's time for a change already. I'm guessing it's just a way for them to try to sucker some $$$ out of me. Anyway as soon as I get a chance I'm going to check it out and see if it even remotely looks like it needs changed.

Debating on just putting another paper filter in, buy a K&N or put a CAI on it when its time...decisions....

hi there, about your question, in the dealer they change the filter everytime they make the service, but im pretty shure 20000 km in a paper filter is the max you cant get, if you dont drive in a dusti condisions. if you buy a k&n drop in filter or cai you can clean it every 10,000 miles, and for 38 a paper filter is better to buy a drop in if you dont want to expende in the cai, thats what i do. In mi olds man truck, the air filter changes every 10,000km because the dust in here, and the dealer charge 600 pesos (46usd) and i can get a drop in at autozone for the same. Check how dirty is. is the easy way.

If the roads in Bridgeport are paved and you don't drive down in a dirt pit, no way you should need a new air filter at 6500 miles. They want your money and don't want to use a gun. My Owners Manual only says to check the air filter at 24000 if in dusty conditions. Replace at 30000 miles under "normal" conditions.
Time to find an honest mechanic!

I drive around roads that have so many flying creatures & hay flying off of trucks, that i changed the very dirty air filter at 30,000 miles, even the box that it sits in was full of crap
I went with the K&N air filter
Then i fabricated a screen that fits between the grille & radiator to keep the debris out of the radiator fins

I held the filter up to the sun & tried to see daylight through it, i had to trash it

Checked it the other day and it's about as dirty as I figured it would be. Which isn't dirty to the point that it needs replaced. No it doesn't look like new but it does look like about 6500 miles and should get plenty more out of it. Anyway still kicking around the idea of a K&N CAI.

Studbuster, was that suppose to be a West Virginia joke? I hear those all the time and they get about as old as the fact that most people don't realize we are "NOT" the western part of Virginia. Since 1863 we have been our own state....BTW. Thanks for the info. I didn't get an "Owners Manual" with my truck. All I got was a dvd and I hate trying to find a damn thing on it.
