Hello,

I’m having issues with the ambient lighting in my ‘19 Laramie. The light above the glove box only works some of the time, the other lights work as they should. Is anyone else having this issue? I’m going to take it to the dealer, but I’m a little nervous about how much would have to be removed to get to the light itself if it needs to be replaced. I’ve tracked acouple pics to show you what I’m talking about.

Thanks

That should be a quick easy fix

its likely that they compress the lower glove box in from the sides & pull it out
Then if they have to, they could remove the screw in the bottom of the upper glove box & remove that too

That is the way that they assembled them for the last 9 years,
i doubt that they have changed it much

Let me know how it goes. After seeing yours I went and checked mine and they don't light up either (but I do see the LED strip there), so it may be a common issue.
Check your dial on the lower left and make sure it's not in the highest position after the click. They only work when it's nighttime.

It is (all the others work fine. It’s just the glovebox that’s not lit up).

Not a huge deal. I hadn’t noticed until TXL mentioned it on his. Next time I have to go to the dealer I’ll bring it up.

I took a better look in pitch darkness, and the good news is that I can see dim lighting behind the glove box, is seems the LED strip may have shifted (or perhaps not secured fully at the factory).

Anyone know how easy it is to dismantle the upper storage area?? I’d like to see if I can fix this myself if I can.

Thanks,

Mine looks the same and I’m curious to see if it’s something I can take a look at myself.

Just posted a photo. Yours does light up more though, correct?
Sometimes it looks like the picture you posted, sometimes it seems like there’s no light at all and sometimes it lights up completely. If the truck has been sitting for a while, it doesn’t light up right away. It usually takes a while after starting the truck and most of the time it will eventually light up.

Got it. Mine seems like this all the time. Glad I see the light though. When I looked at it the other day in my work garage, it wasn’t pitch black so I thought it was completely out.

I finally took my truck in to the dealer to get the ambient lighting looked at and they ended up having to replace it. It works as it should now.
