My last truck was totaled because of damage on the inner cab and bed structure. If it would have been the outer portion then they could have repaired it instead of having to replace the bed and cab (pushed the cost over the value of the truck so got a check instead of my truck back).
Decades ago I got rear-ended (looked worse than your pictures). It looked pretty bad and I was sure I was going truck shopping that weekend but it was repaired. The body shop told me that since the frame damage was behind the rear axle it was only considered minor frame damage and could be repaired. Again, that was decades ago so I don't know if the same holds true all these years later.
