I asked my dealer. They didn't have that in the catalogue for the 2014. But when he looked up in the computer, the guy at the parts had that option for the 2013. He said they could install the camera if you had the big screen, which I guess meaning 5" and bigger.

When I was shopping for a new Ram, I inquired about adding the camera to one on the lot that had the 5.0 screen. They told me they could do it for around $650.00 usd.

i have a 2014 with the 5" screen... just for fun I'd love to add a backup camera, but screw paying 650 for it.

I read somewhere else all the wiring is there, just have to phsycially connect the camera? Would love a cheap/easy DIY for this if we knew which part to buy.

There are lots of posts about this if you search. The trucks do not have factory wiring if they don't have the camera from the factory. Mopar does not (yet) have parts to add the camera and get it wired to your radio. Many dealers will add the camera and put the display in your rear view mirror. If you are willing to go DIY check out http://ramharness.com. You need to buy Mopar camera and harness for the tailgate and then ramharness makes the wiring that will bring the camera to your radio with the OEM colored lines. Find the $94 harness on their site and the instructions are there in a PDF so you can read through it before you buy anything. I finished mine last weekend and it works great. Works with the 5" or 8.4" displays.

How much did that cost? My dealer told me the same. Only rearview module available and expensive.

allmoparparts.com sells a backup camera kit that contains a tailgate handle, camera, and tailgate harness. this was $225 when I bought it but a little less now. The wiring harness at ramharness.com was $94. You'll need a dealer to flash the XAC code to your truck, mine didn't charge me to do this when I was in for other work, but many people pay up to $100 or so for this.

I installed a factory kit today. The Mopar kit included the camera (tail gate handle) and all the wiring necessary. It took me about 3 hours, but I had access to a lift. I believe the next would take less, than 2 hrs.
There is a harness that needs to be installed along the left frame rail, hook up a red wire to the TIPM, a black to ground than the rest goes into the cabin, a purple wire to the BCM, the rest to the radio. The centre stack (screen) has to come out, but it's no big deal. The word thing was to install the purple cable to the BCM, there is barely any room to do this.
Make sure to set up an appointment with your local dealer to reconfigure the vehicle - the sales code has to be entered to get the system working.
NOTE! after the installation the screen goes blank and you won't be able to control NAV, radio, HVAC… until the reconfiguration is done. Some shops has been booked for weeks…
The installation instruction which came with the kit is very good.

My next project is the factory integrated trailer brake control.
