Looking to add some better back up lights any suggestions? I just got the truck yesterday but I have noticed it has upgraded headlights. Not sure what they are. They have a thin round light when on Daytime running and the really bright when turned on. But back to my original reason for posting if you have some good ideas for back up lights I was thinking of mounting under the bumper but if there are better ways let me know.

My gallery has pics of how I improved my '09. I wired them to the reverse circuit as well as a diode and a switch in the cab in case I needed to hook up a trailer or make camp in the dark (without pulling the truck around to use the headlights).

Thanks this is what I was looking for. Nice looking and not overly noticeable
Exactly! And easily reversible (no pun intended!) if you want to go back to stock for one reason or another.

Just wondering do you find the switch handy to have? I will probably be pm'ing you about how to do it and where to hook it up to as I am not knowledgeable on this stuff but will only get better by doing it. What lights did you use? Sorry I know asking for a lot of information but that seems just like what I was thinking of to do so of course I am looking for all the info I can get

Well, I looked it up and you have a 921 bulb. I just bought these bulbs: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-921-91...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3cc028baf9

Wow thanks!! My headlights have already been upgraded but will have to wait for a nicer day to see what they actually are. I will try replacing the cargo light and backup lights and see how much of a difference that makes before installing new lights.

I have led reverse and cargo bulbs, the reverse have something like 48 smd's, the more smd's the brighter, mine are pretty bright, but could always be a bit brighter! my cargos are pretty bright too..

So will try and pick up some new lights for backup and cargo and see how much of a difference it makes but I do like the additional ones as well that was a very nice job on those.

That's what I'd do. Replacing bulbs will be alot cleaner if you can get away with it. At the time, there weren't any cost effective bulbs to be had (the price has come down a lot in the last few years).

I did find that I liked having the switch though. I mounted it on the access cover for the console shifter. It was relly easy to remove and put a nice clean hole in.

Good luck!

So for a back up light I need a 921 and for cargo I need a 912 so can I just do like a google search for these and find and LED equivalent? If anyone has the exact part number of an LED that you used that info would be great. I am already loving this site great info here. Also I am in Canada so hopefully places will ship to me.

All I can recommend is start searching and call/email them and find out.

Everyone ships to Texas!

Thank you for the info! When installing the new led bulbs, do you have ot add any other devices or do they just plug in and work fine with the existing setup?
They should just plug n' play (assuming you have the correct size). You may need error cancelers if you're putting LED's into turn signals or brake lights due to the lower amperage draw fooling the computer into thinking you have a bulb out.
