Hey Guys... I've had my 2010 1500 Sport for a few years now but really hadn't done any mods until now. I'm installing a BDS Suspension Lift Kit myself and had a quick question to run by you. In the course of separating the Ball Joints I tore the rubber boot on a couple of them. My truck has about 37K miles. I was considering just having new ball joints put in but after doing some brief checking around I'm not seeing those Ball Joints available (besides some expensive adjustable ones). Do folks really just change the whole Control Arm out when a ball joint or bushing goes bad on these trucks? The lower strut mount bolt was seized up in the bushing on one side as well and I had to cut the bolt to get the strut assembly out. Again, I thought all I would need to do is take the control arm to have a new bushing pressed in but again not seeing those bushings readily available at the parts stores. Same deal? Do I really need to replace the whole control arm? Or am I just not looking in the right places for these bushings and ball joints.

Thanks in advance for help.

Pat

Mopar may have a press in ball joint available. But it is not uncommon to see manufacturers make the ball joint fixed to the control arm and serviced as one unit. And same may be true about the bushings as well.

Yeah, I called the dealer today. They won't sell just the bushing or ball joint. Have to buy the whole control arm (just another way they stick it to you). I tend to think my ball joints are okay and may leave them alone. I have to replace that bushing though since it has that bolt seized up in it. Autozone says they can get it so going that route.

Huntergreen... Do you mean parts that were already on my truck or new parts? The parts on my truck were all original. I can't really say that in my search for new ball joints and bushing that's I saw anything that would be much of an upgrade. As I mentioned above I did see some "adjustable" ball joints that were almost as expensive as a completely new upper control arm.
