I have noticed more than once that when changing a battery in my other vehicles, there was a considerable performance increase after the new battery was installed. I attributed this to increasing the performance of the electrical system that newer vehicles are so dependent on. What do you guys think about the battery as a source of performance?

It has to do with resetting of the ECU and not the voltage from the new battery. You can get the same result by disconnecting your battery to allow the computer to reset. When you reset the computer it goes into a learn mode while it learns your driving style and makes adjustments to run ideal (emission, fuel economy, air/fuel ratio, etc).

I don't know how many Cold Cranking Amps your Ram battery has, but i do know that the newer Rams have more than 650 CCA
I don't know if they have 700 or 750 CCA
but they must have changed it for a reason

I had a camaro that i could tell when the battery was losing power because the car would not run as good. I guess my charging system wasnt too good. Charge the battery or get a new on in it and it would smoke off the tires until it would start getting weak again. I guess the fuel pump didnt get as much power and the electronic ignition/coil wasnt giving as good as spark.

I considered mine a MOD, Its a Die Hard Platinum P-2 Group65, bada#% battery.

i have no idea if it will give you any performance enhancements, but the best battery for the money hands down is interstate. no two ways about it.

I just put an interstate in my other vehicle (Honda Pilot). There was a considerable increase in performance, which is why I asked. I understand the re-setting of the computer, but I do that occasionally and never see any noticeable difference. This was very noticeable.

If the battery is bad or going bad it could cause poor performance, but all batteries (in good condition) will provide the same power basically. I think cars actually run on ~14 volts, not 12 volts like most people think. Taking a good battery and replacing it will not increase performance. Taking a bad or almost bad battery and replacing it may give the illusion of "increased" performance, but it's just returning the performance to normal. Also like said above, resetting the pcm has some to do with that illusion as well.

Also the sensors and ecu are low draw so the alternator should pick up any drop in voltage from a battery on its way out. Thats why its best to replace the battery as soon as you notice that it's getting weak. Alternators are not designed to run at 100% and they will burn up doing so because of a bad battery.

After i swapped to a large AGM and HO alt i notived anout .5 MPG increase around town, no notice in erformance gains though. I drive practiacally the same route at the same time every day so i always notice the little mpg stuff because its a repetitive routine for me.

maybe if you put a light weight battery like optima or other , you might gain performance, specialy in small , low hp cars, but in the truck dont think the weight will change anything
