Has anyone been through the winch mounting process on 2010 ram 1500?
I intend to have a clean look to the front of the truck and therefore wish to mount a 10,000lb winch behind the stock bumper. Any thoughts on the idea and if you have done this already things I should watch out for. Thanks

I seem to remember running across Warn's behind the bumper system. It was on a 2008 (little bit different front fascia) but that might be a good place to start looking!

The outdoorsman is not offered with a front winch like the 2500 power wagons, The power wagon front mounts may be where I start at though. Waren hasnt offered any sugestions as yet with two e-mails to their customer service over the last month. It looks like I am gona be the first to attempt this. I will keep the post updated and add pics of where this project ends up. Thanks for the comments.

I had a 2008 RAM 2500 with an ARB bumper and winch mount. Now have a 2011 RAM 1500 and thinking about another winch. Mine has the chrome bumper with a bit of space along the front that is filled with a black plastic insert. I have crawled under mine to look at options that did not require replacing the bumper.

It looks like there is plenty of room behind the bumper for a winch. I have done some searching and so far have not found a mounting kit for one. I also considered a front receiver which allowing me to go with a hitch mounted winch that I could then use on the front or back of the truck as might suit me best in any given situation. I haven't measured yet but it looks like some bumper cutting would be needed for a front mounted receiver.

Searching on line the only front receiver mount I found was below the front bumper. That seems a bit low and I would prefer it higher. So far it looks like a custom fabrication job based on my searching. If anyone comes across a high front receiver or behind the bumper mount for a 1500 I would like to know.

you can always get a cradle type winch that fits into the receiver & use it on both the front & rear receivers, just need to run the power source to do it

I found that Curt model in my searching. Has a great pull rating (9K) but I'm not happy about how low it places the receiver. It appears to be below the frame, at the top edge of the plastic valance that runs under the bumper. I don't like the idea of something really solid any lower than necessary - Imagine hitting a high curb with that. I would like to find a receiver mount that is closer to the height of the back receiver - something coming out in that gap in the front bumper. I haven't measured but think it would take a little trimming of the front bumper to make it fit. I'm not sure how hard that task would be.
