Daughter backed into a tree with tailgate down. Big ol' dent on the top and front of the tailgate and into the crease near the top. I'm pretty confident it can't be repaired.

I was looking to find a decent replacement tailgate without breaking the bank. Junkyard searches seemed to run north of $1000 and I haven't found any in my color (2014 Laramie Maximum Steel).

I've seen many replacement of various qualities starting at ~$250 but I would then need to get it painted as well as swapping all the mechanicals and badging out. There's also a seller on Amazon and Ebay that offers one prepainted to match my color but the reviews aren't spectacular.

Has anyone had to replace their tailgate and have any advice they could send my way?

I bought my tailgate through a auto body shop
They bought it through a volume Dodge Dealership about 60 miles away
I made a deal with the body shop, i paid cash, no paperwork

Yeah you're going to need a new one. Like gofishn said, junkyard or body shop. You may have trouble finding a max steel color one at a junkyard
