Does anyone know of a bike rack that fits into the bed of the truck. I have the Ram Boxes so it would have to fit between the walls (of course)!

I was bike riding yesterday and after taking the wheels off and carefully laying the bikes into the bed, it dawned on me that someone must have already made this easier. I have a bike rack that fits the hitch receiver but putting the bikes in the bed is an easier option.

As always, any input appreciated!

I put this together using what I already had in the garage. It holds the bikes securely and i can run a cable lock through the bikes and the tie down loop in the bed to lock everything. I know its not pretty but it was free and gets the job done.

I built mine. A couple 2x6 and a Yakima locking fork mount from eBay. Fits in the slot in the sides of the bed.
I really like that idea! What keeps the whole thing from popping up when you hit bumps? What size bed do you have and how much clearance is there between the bike's back tire and front of the bed? Does it come in and out pretty easy?

I'm with deathwarden5. I made this one 8 years ago for my 2000 Ram Sport 4x4. It fits my 2013 just fine. Just cut it snug and sand the ends to make it fit. Stays put unless I'm riding washboard dirt roads too fast.

Those slots come in handy for many things
Some truck beds have them in front & the rear of the inner fenders
Some even have a molded area on the top of the inner fenders
So you could put 2 vertical 2X8 boards into the slots
Then another horizontal 2X6 or 2X8 on top of the inner fender

Then even plywood laid on top of the boards
I cut slots & bored holes into the rear vertical 2X8, so that i could put shovel, rake, & broom handles thru it, the head of each was then handy, right by the tailgate

Bike Rack For A Truck?

When I had a 2004 Acura RSX, I Had a trailer hitch mounted just so I could put a bike rack on it (you can buy trailer hitch mountable bike racks at many auto stores). For a truck though? Just throw it in the back, silly.

It's got some weight to just alone. I've never seen it bouncing around with the bike on there. Even without a bike, I've never hear it bounce around (it stays in year round).

With my old bike (was a 26" rim bike) the bike would fit perfectly, the back tire would fit nicely in the grooves in the front of the bed. My new bike (27.5") has to sit at a bit of an angle. Easily fixed by swapping out the top board with a 2x8" or 2x10" and moving the fork mount closer to the tailgate. It goes in and out easily enough.
