It seams many people here are using the Bilstein shocks, and not much on the Rancho Quick Lift shocks. Which one is better and why? I am trying to decide what to order for my 08 Ram. Thanks for the help.
I just ordered Bilstein 5100's today. I choose them over rancho simply because of the overwhelming good feedback. I don't believe I've seem anyone on here saying anything great about ranch, but I could be wrong. I'd go with the 5100's, everyone that has them seem to get great performance out of them.
I am currently looking into the exact same thing for my '08 4.7 4WD Quad Cab. I too have read a lot of positive about Bilstein 5100's, I think mainly because they were probably the first to come out. I haven't read anything bad about the Rancho quick lifts so I wouldn't neccessarily say they are an inferior product. They are both adjustable so I don't think that is much of an argument. I am going to continue to do research before I decide. I haven't seen price comparisons yet. That may help make a decision, lol. Good luck to you.
Installed Rancho quick lifts a few months ago on my truck. Tenneco (Rancho/Monroe) had to ship me 4 different sets & I'm still not sure I have the correct ones installed. The problem is on the strut top, Rancho updated this area after some sets were already out on the market. The techs couldn't tell me if I had the right ones even looking at photos I e-mailed them.
Look in my photo albums & you'll see my photos of the quick lifts before the install
Well, I had a snag in my plan yesterday. While coming out of the parking building at work yesterday, I had a friend behind me. When we got to the bottom, he commented on how close I come to hitting the beams. We went back to check it out, and I found I am only clearing it by about 3.5 inches. Its going to get a little tighter than that when I get some new shoes on it next week. I am worried if I hit a bump and hop it a little, I might take out the roof of my cab.
Also, 06, your post says volumes about the Rancho setup. I don't think I would like to take a chance on that kind of costumer service, unless someone else has anything better to add.
I've used Rancho on previous trucks that I've lifted and they were OK. I'm going with the Bilstein shocks this time cause if the popular/positive feedback they are getting. I have big expectations for these.
