I have not done this mod myself as I did not have any pillar tape on my truck. From the people I have seen that have done it here all have loved it. The warning from teh site admin about performing mods at your risk is just so that you can't go back at them if something happens while doing mod. As for around the sliding window I don't know so I am sure someone else will be able to answer it.
