Hi, just coming up on 23,000 miles and notice my brakes are squeezing and the dust is mounting. I've done about 2500 miles of towing a 10,000 trailer, but am usually not hard on the brakes. Is this premature wear or what I should expect??

Semi metallic pads will blow a bit more dust and a bit of squealing
is not abnormal if it's been wet, damp or humid it does not take
long for some light rust to form on the rotors and the noise usually
goes away after a couple of times the brakes are applied. if there
is a pulling or a wobble-thumping when braking then there is a concern.

With that type of mileage and not being hard on the brakes I would
pop the wheels off and take a peek just to know for sure what the
exact condition of the pads are. ;)

A lot depends on driving habits but you shouldn't need brakes with that mileage. Unless you have a frozen caliper you should be good.

After 2500 miles with a 2500 though I would expect that they'd still have another 7-10k though, unless the trailer has no brakes
