Ok so im kind of brake stupid. :4-dontknow: i know basically nothing about brakes. all i know is i know something isnt right with mine. When i press the brakes in my truck (especially when going downhill) my truck has a tendency to shake or vibrate and it only happens when i use my brakes. what could be the cause of this? Could it just be my rotors being warped or could i have another issue? Again im not very brake smart, nor do i have a ton of money to use to buy high quality brakes, but i do realize i want to be able to stop. any information is appreciated :smiley_thumbs_up:

hey there, sounds like the "warped rotor". there could be other causes of course, loose parts etc. Best bet is, if you are not mechanicaly inclined at all is take it to a local brake shop, or any local shop and get them to take a look. Could be a simple fix. I know its never fun to spend money we dont have, but the breaking system is a very important part of your truck, wouldnt want that nice ram all smashed up thats for sure!. Also sometimes with a warped rotor (if thats what it is) the break shop may be able to machine them true again. sometimes, but not always cheaper than a new set. hope this helps a bit!

definately sounds like your discs to me.

IMO, i wouldn't turn them..if they are warped they are warped...if your shaking, they are warped. buy a new set, because turning them might not get your warp out. only a few thou are turned off of them...

my friend who is a mechanic recommends that you buy the best pads money can buy (im guessing usually raybestos), but the cheapest discs.

you might be lucky enough to find some Chinese garbage discs for 20-30 bucks a side and voila, no more shake rattle and roll. 2 beers and an hour later, the discs are on.

i just picked up a set of discs (made in canada if you can believe it) for less than a Chinese set for my buddys 2002 f150 today for 45 bucks a piece...raybestos ones were 100 bucks a side.

Brakes

Yeah your rotors are warped. This is a common problem with our heavy trucks.
You need to either turn your rotors or replace the front rotors and pads.
