I am 48 hours into a new 2014 limited 1500 with air suspension and I notice the driver's side is lower then the passenger's side. While there is only 1 inch difference it looks horrible. I raised and lowered it thinking something might be pinched or needed freed up, but that didn't help. The difference dropped to 1/2 inch at off road 1 & 2, but the normal level and exit levels were 1 inch. I am guessing this is warranty work. Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine varies especially depending on where I'm parked. If I'm parked on a sloped driveway, it is very noticeable. On a flat surface, it can be 1 - 1 1/2" difference side to side but not always.
I can't say that it was a big concern to me.

So maybe its a break-in issue if it corrected itself. Seems strange that the gas tank would cause this. I thought the truck was designed to auto level unbalanced loads in the bed of the truck? If so, then it should correct itself. Maybe I am thinking about the 2500. I m going to see what the dealer says. This shouldn't be normal. It makes an otherwise beautiful truck look like a POS.

The fuel tank is a very valid point as to ride height differences between left and right sides. Let's say you have the 32 gallon tank. Fuel is said to have an average weight of 6.5lbs a gallon. So, if you're Ram is full of fuel, no passengers in it, the truck just sitting there is carrying 208lbs on the drivers side. That kind of weight will put some sag in the suspension no doubt. I wonder if anyone here has measured height differences when tank only has 3 gallons in it or 19.5lbs. :4-dontknow:

Guys,

Please see this earlier thread. I posted my experience and some docs from RAM about measuring truck height.

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=174743

I think we need to figure out if this is only for trucks with the air suspension or does it affect others. My dealership was not very helpful when I pointed it out and I felt they were just trying to get rid of me. They also tried to say it may be the fuel tank. We need to talk to an actual RAM engineer or something. Let's put our heads together and see if we can document what is going on. My truck has a slight lean. I followed my wife while she drove it the other day and it is barely noticeable on the rode due to the crown of the road. It's very hard to find a perfectly level surface for measuring to really document it.

I'm guessing this has to do with the air suspension auto-level system. Maybe the sensors are bad or not calibrated properly. Maybe it's the air bags or maybe the springs. Have no idea.

I'm going to take mine to another dealership and see what they say. Since the truck is supposed to auto-level when a load is places in the bed, we might be able to use that feature as a way to get RAM to correct the problem.

If anyone else has a 1500 with the air suspension please take a look and report what you find here so we can compare.

If this is a defect that is known to RAM and was not disclosed to us when we purchased we have a real issue.

It affects them all, take your tape measure to your local dealer, you'll be hard pressed to find a 1500 that sits level, whether it's on springs or air.

Measure under the hood, the engine is offset to the passenger side
So you'd think the trucks should sit lower on the passenger side, but most sit higher on that side
I've owned both a 13 and 14,neither one was anywhere near level

I think the truck settles a bit after it sits for a while, could be leak down or just temperature change.

The system seems to stay active for a period of time after you shut the truck off but I think after a while it goes to sleep so to speak, what I have noticed is any time I start my truck after its been sitting for a while like over night for example, once the truck starts it goes through a levelling. If I watch the mirrors I can see it going through the process then all is good.

I certainly can't say if it's normal or if its supposed to do this but it doesn't realt concern me.

My driveway is a slight slope, I have also noticed after I park it on a slope it'll level itself within a few minutes of shutting it off.

I apologize for getting back so late on this. It took me a while to get the truck into the dealer.

Well in short the dealer couldn't do anything about it. They said they loosened up the chassis, let the air out of the bags to allow it to settle and then tightened it back up. They also said they replaced one of the airbags. They claimed they worked with their engineer and apparently the truck is well within tolerance.

I am having a lift kit installed and we'll see if that doesn't level it, but I doubt it. I may have to by a bullydog level kit and just use one of the arms to raise the one corner. There are so many things done the right way on this truck I hate to be critical but this issue is bad.

I had an SL 55 with the air adjustable suspension it was the biggest piece of crap system on a 130.000 car I have ever seen. Always leaking never sat right constant idiot light on inside car because of the suspension. I will never buy a car or truck with the air suspension. I hope you guys have better luck on these trucks.

My 2014 Laramie with the air suspension actually sat about 3/4" lower on the passenger side than the driver side. I took it to the dealer where they opened a Star Case with Ram and Ram told them to make some adjustments with the body mounts. It now sits about a 1/2" lower on the passenger side, which Ram says is within specs. Apparently there is no such thing as a level truck from side to side.
