Gang-
Just about to purchase a lightly used 2011 2500 Ram Laramie with bucket seats. There will be times when I need to tow our 10,000 trailer with the entire family - 4 small boys and wife. Wondering if I can purchase an OEM jump seat (factory/stock of course) and do a swap between the two seating arrangements as needed? I really like the bucket look and functionality for my traveling job but want to be able to fit 6 people a couple times per year as planned trips. Anyone do this or have any thoughts on whether it's possible and how I would purchase the center jump seat only?

I appreciate the insight!

That is likely a question to ask the parts department and body shop.

Might be easier to fit 2 kids in a large shirt, buckle them into 1 seating position and tell the cops they're Siamese twins. :4-dontknow:

I'd check with the dealers parts dept. on availability on the folding center console seat, check with the auto recyclers in your area and also check with places like Cleveland Pick A Part.

It's gonna be a bit of work to swap the item in and out. I basically have bucket seats with the folding center console seat which came with the SLT. So once you find one of these and put it in, I would think you won't want to pull it out.

I like the captains bench. It's every bit as comfortable as the buckets and in my opinion more comfortable on long hauls.

The center console on the laramie has little value to me.... I might encourage you to try the bench.

Ok, maybe I am missing something but I dont think you can do that swap considering the Laramie's with center console also have the shifter in the console while the bench seats have column shifters. The console if i remember correctly is a solid piece so if you remove that, you will just expose the shifter mechanism but it will still be in the way.

I agree I don't see how it would be possible, especially not on a quick switch. I would look for a bench. Having raised 4 kids myself my previous truck had a bench in it. I was surprised how many times a year we had all 4 kids in the truck. Going for Christmas tree, picking up appliances, big toys.....plus of course the summer camping trips. Being able to put all 6 of us in the truck was a huge plus.

His is a 2500, all they offer is a column shifter

Ahh..i missed the piece of information. Still think it would be a hassle to change out and definately not something you'd want to do back and forth.

Persoanlly, I love my buckets and the convenience of a console way more than my bench from my 05 ram. I also only have two kids (well I had one when i left on deployment but we have since added another since I have been gone :) so I have plenty of room for the whole family
