Can a drive belt really be that difficult

Despite my best efforts I'm unable to install a new 5060660 belt on my 2016 1500 LT 3.6L engine.

I had no trouble removing and (subsequently) re-installing the original drive belt. As for the new belt, I couldn't get much closer to the top of water pump pulley than just above the nut. It did not appear that I had hung the new DAYCO belt on the pulley rim.

Maybe I just need to spend more time at the gym???

There’s really only two answers, either it’s being installed wrong or it’s too short.

There's a tensioner there you're using while attempting the install, correct?

Yes. Rotates without issue.

I'd probably compare the lengths of the two belts to see if they are even close. New one may be too short.
