Can a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7l v8 engine be installed in a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7l v8. Not sure if these are compatible. The 2009 has the flex fuel option, is this a problem.

I know they upgraded the engine to make more power at some point, and I believe it was 2008. They added a second bank of plugs and some other stuff; I want to say yes, but you're also dealing with 2 separate generations of truck so the controls and electronics may be different

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what to do here. The salvage yard said the 08 and 09 were compatible. The 08 4.7l engines I found on ebay when I plugged in my 09 truck in the compatible chart at the bottom of the ad it said they were not. Looking for some verification this will work as I can only find an 08 engine.

If you were looking a the 3.6L
I know that the 2009 Jeep 3.6L will work in a 2003 Dodge Ram

=============================================

You just have to switch over those 2008 things that screw into the engine block & change the intake manifold, some parts may be the same on both engines

Your trucks computer is looking for the things that came on the truck from the factory

The engine block itself does not care what type of fuel you use
It is the bolt on stuff that determines that
