Hey everyone, i'm planning on getting my exhaust done soon and was wondering what the cons of getting rid of my cat would be? My truck is an '03 and i've heard that cutting off the cats really only affects anything newer than an '05, how true is this? Thanks.

only issue you should have would be your CEL would come on,for the rear o2 sensor.thats easy and cheap to fix,i can explain if you decide to do it.also your truck will be louder.i plan to do this in the near future as well.

In California, any vehicle 1976 & newer, will not pass Smog without the Catalytic Converter, if it had one when built

Do you need to pass emissions? Do you care about the environment? You can cut the cat off, but late model cats are very free flowing and you gain little without them. I would leave them on on any late model vehicle. On older vehicles I would replace it with a aftermarket cat.

if you need to pass emissions, leave it be or get high flow cats.if not,i say cut them.it sounds alot better imo.

to fix it get a set of spark plug non-foulers(not sure on the size, but its the same as the o2 sensor)
take one of them and drill the hole out to 1/2 inch.screw that one on your o2 sensor.then, take the other, and screw over the one you drilled.
then you take the hole setup and screw it into where your sensor goes.

this acts like a spacer and makes less air get to the sensor and tricks it into thinking you have a cat.some say it doesnt work but it has been fine for me.no CEL
