In my old Tundra I removed the caps on top of the rear bumper and low and behold, lots of rust. Makes sense, lots of moisture etc gets trapped.

Two days ago removed them on my 2015 RAM and sure enough, I had rust forming under there too that I had to deal with.

At least with the Rams, the frames are good. I used to be a Toyota guy, my local dealer has stacks of frames outside the shop for Tacomas and Tundras. Spray bed liner every where you can, then spray Fluid Film inside the frame, rocker panels and doors. My Ram is a 2005, bought new, has 255,000 miles and 13 Maine winters, still no rust.
