Just wanted to share a great product with everyone
I had a JL Audio Stealthbox in my 2008 Sierra the one I had went in the cubby hole/storage area under the bench seat arm rest and thats why I love the stealthbox line they use available space in a clean way

Does this just replace the stock sub that's under the rear passenger seat? I'd be interested in getting rid of that one for one with a little more umph

well it can be looked at 2 ways

#1 yes it can replace the stock sub for one of much better quality, and for those of you who have never heard a Jl 10W series sub it would take about 4 stock subs to reach the same sound and bass as one 10W

#2 this kit can be for guys like me that don't have the factory sub and want a factory clean looking install

You can build your own setup for behidn the seats in the megacap that are a lot better/tailored to subs you actually want to run.


The JL stuff is nice, but for 1,300 you could build a serious behidn the seat 15" comp woofer setup, let alone 2 10s and a box. Also being wired for 4ohm mono load to the amp, you would need a SERIOUS amp and charging system to make those things hammer

yeah you are totally right a box to fit bigger louder subs can be made cheaper

but for guys with no experience or no knowledge on how to do any of that the Jl way is a decent option because even if you went to a shop and had a custom set up like your talking about built, By the time the gear and labor is all said and done, your right back in Jl price territory

so really the only way it's cheaper is if you can do all the box fitment build and wiring yourself and not everyone can and then there is the engineering !

the box you build might have 12's or 15's that boom boom boom shake your cab apart and sound like every honda civic around but the jl box has acoustic engineering involved it's tight clean and refined bass rather than the sloopy bang bang boom you hear in most vehicles.

but again this comes down to skill level I have built full fiberglass sub enclosures that had 400 plus hours in sanding and paint in the past for car shows and I have installed two 12" subs in a square store bought universal box for guys that just want their vehicle to hammer

I myself listen to anything with a guitar in it so I like crisp well placed tight bass and you get that from a 10" not a 12 or 15 they are all power and thump and the 10W series is among the most powerful 10" subs cash can get you,

so as I said this is a clean classy way to add bass not necessarily the cheapest way but if your not skilled enough to build something yourself which lets face it 98% of people aren't because there is carpentry some piping wiring and if you want the sound to come out right acoustic engineering involved in building a box anywhere close to Jl quality, or if you simply want something clean and factory looking to fit in your brand new truck it's worth having a look at the Jl gear because if you can't do the work yourself from start to finish the average shop will charge as much as it would cost to go and buy the stealthbox

This post was just to let people know whats out there for our trucks if you are skilled and can build something like this then wonderful but for those who aren't it's an option
