Have a 2012 Ram 1500. About a week ago, when the engine running and the transmission in park; when taking my foot off the brake it makes a clicking noise. This only happens with the engine running and releasing the brake while in park. What could the problem be?

Hmm, that's an interesting one. Can you guesstimate where the clicking noise is coming from? Inside the truck near the pedals or something outside?

Same issue here on my 2012 Ram 15000 Express. Noise is under dash. Happened right after I had the T79 recall completed. Seems to be my luck, as soon as I let a dealer perform a recall or do warranty work, I have another (dealer induced) issue.

I'm not sure how that's be related; I thought T79 just affected the shift linkage. Maybe because of the BTSI though

Hi Slidell and flht99b,

Thank you for sharing this experience. Have you returned to the dealer since having the recall completed to make them aware? Please feel free to send us a private message if you are in need of additional assistance.

No I haven't gone back to the dealer because they will charge about $150, and say they don't see a problem.

No, haven't returned to dealer yet but will later this week, time permitting. The noise does not affect the operation, just seems pretty odd, like something is dropping under the dash.

Mine also after T79 recall refit. Sounds like a locking device releasing when applying brake to shift out of park. Never had sound before recall??

Sounds like your shift interlock, its supposed to do that. I've had quite a few of the Rams not working before the recall, maybe this is the case with yours.

Did you happen to notice before the recall if you could take it out of park without depressing the brake?

flht99b,

Feel free to send a message while you're at the dealer.

hogan1945,

Have you made your dealer aware of this since the recall?

Called the service dept. where the T 79 recall was completed. They say the clicking sound is normal.

I tried to send you a P.M. and was denied for not having enough post. I called the service department where the recall was completed; they said the clicking noise is normal. I doubt that.

Did anyone get the clicking to stop after the T79 Recall or found out that it is truly OK to be making that sound?
