Just had a pleasant six hr ride from Vermont with no heat or ac(defrost). Was initially working this morning in sub zero temps but then just quit. Climate control lights are out and will not switch to warm or divert from floor but blower fan works. Assumed it may be a fuse but didn't find one blown that i would think would be associated as described in owners manual. One other thing I found was the headlights will not work in auto and when switched to this position, the dash headlight indicator goes out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Jim

The headlight sounds like a problem I had, the dealer ended up replacing the switch. It would not work on auto and if you manually turned the switch it would light up dim when it should be full lighting and off when it should be on. Pain when you have to be on the road at 4:30am. You other issue I can't say anything other than if you are still under warranty get it in and have the dealer deal with it.

Well, started checking any fuse that may be remotely associated. Started the truck and it was working again. Great. I guess I have a loose connection. Anyone know where I can Get A schematic?

This should help with you HVAC system.

For those out of warranty and like to fix your own things, here is a quick guide for that clicking noise.

Chances are it is only the motor that is bad if it is clicking or thumping.
Not very hard to fix really. I think most of these cases are the motor gears stripping and not the doors themselves.

If you know how to take the center stack bezel around the radio off you are halfway there. Don't forget about the screw over the 115V out let. Take the bezel off then the two side 12V acc. plugs. Remove the ring bezel around the cup holder if equipped.

The culprit is the lower center motor, unplug remove two screws and remove.
If the gears are stripped you can position the big gear 180 out from the smaller gear. The door only travels about 120 degrees so won't hit the stripped part.

Reassemble and you should be good to go. 1 to 2 hours of your time. If you want to get a new motor it is about $40 from Chrysler.

Hopefully this is the extent of your problem.

I think this is my problem. There is a loud clicking noise coming from behind the dash... And air will only blow on the floor!!!

This sucks

What's the part number for that motor?

you may want to check with your dealership
the 2009 Ram had an issue with the Climate Controls
There was a Technical Service Bulletin ( TSB ) put out on it
even though you are out of the 3 year warranty
you may still be covered under that TSB

Oh wow.. Thanks for that link.

Yup. The a/c reprogram hasn't been done. Then sure sounds like more than a reprogram. They better change the actuator if its the problem too.

I am having the exact same set of symptoms in my 2011. It started with the HVAC controls not switching off floor and then last night my headlights would not come on in "auto" mode and the lights behind the HVAC controls will not light up and the only air I am getting is ambient from outside (blower still works). Did you get this solved/were you able to figure it out? From what I have read the best I can figure is that is some kind of computer or module issue and it will need to be flashed/reprogrammed. Thanks for any help.

The original post was from last year 1/13 to 5/13. Not sure if you are out of warranty or not. If not take it in, and let the dealership deal with it. You can also check to see if there is a recall that might cover it. BlownGP indicated all it needed was to be reprogrammed.

Guess I should update this.

Reprogramming worked at first, but the issue came up again about 4-5 months later.

This time it would pop like crazy every time I started my truck, then stop a few minutes later. Took it to the dealer again and they had to replace the actuators. Been fine for over a year now.

I'm having the same issues. Blower control works, temperature control does not, diverted control does not. Now the automatic headlights do not work. As a temporary fix, I've been popping the dashboard bezel off, disconnecting the harnesses and reconnecting them. But this only a temporary solution as the symptoms will reappear in a day or two. Did anyone come up with a permanent solution for this set of symptoms?
