1999 Quad Cab- Rear coat hook pulled out due to overload. Does not appear to be damaged. For the life of me cannot force it to snap back in hole. What am I missing??

Can you feel where its suppose to snap into? Is that part broken? If the part in your hand is fine.. normally its the other piece.. .. is it the "expansion" type.. maybe the prongs are squeezed in to tight.. can you flare them out a little?

Is it plastic? Try heating it in some boiling water and press fit it into place?
