I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, and I am trying to decide whether or not to install a cold air intake system in it. Im new to modifications. What are the pros and cons of installing it. What are the best brands? Any opinions or other suggestions? Also what other modifications should I look into if I want more power. Thanks for the help!!!

I had a '99 with the 5.2L and installed a Volant. It is an enclosed system that hooks up to the cold air intake opening in the inner fender.

I really liked it.

There are other, less expensive, options out there to consider, such as AirAid, K&N, AFE, etc...

It's a good mod, easy to install, helps the engine breathe better and can improve throttle response and a slight tick up in HP. To complement the CAI, consider a freer flowing exhaust as well.

Lastly, consider a programmer or a custom PCM tune. Hypertech or Superchips make programmers for your truck. B&G Performance has custom tuned PCM's.

Hi :Hey: and a warm Carolina welcome to the best RAM ForumZ on the web. I'm not the first and won't be the last to say how about posting a few photos of your truck? And :iagree: with Michael on the value of adding the Volant.
