If you have a CCW permit and want to carry in your RT, I have the perfect location. The console has a removable back piece that is held in with snap connectors and is easily removable. Once the piece is on your workbench you can mount a holster to hold your weapon.

I have a Springfield Armory XDm in .45 ACP that rides in the plastic paddle type holster that came with the gun. I heated the paddle to reshape the curve into a flat surface, located it on the console piece, drilled the holes through the paddle and the console piece, and attached the holster with small bolts. Task took about an hour.

Edit: See posting #5 for pics.

Yeah, I've thought about doing the same thing. I'd like to see some pics as well.

Nice job, the only problem I see is that it is out in the open. (i.e. others can see it in the windows)

I guess I'm lucky.. I shoot left hand ( right hand left eye dominate) so my carry sits in my map pocket right in the door.. no one can even see me pick up my weapon..

My reference to "concealed" is to say that I have a concealed carry permit and am allowed to carry in my vehicles. The gun is not "concealed", just easily accessed if necessary.

Keep in mind that the pics are taken with the seats moved forward and seat backs in forward position. I have window tint on doors and back glass. Gun is not visible while parked.

Not suggesting anyone else should follow my lead . . . just sharing an idea.

That's are sweet DIY.

Thinking of getting one of those Gum Creek Holster Mounts but hoping my IWB holster that i ordered will be comfy enough to ride with the gun in the IWB, so i dont need to use a vehicle mount.

Pic of fellow AZ ram owner with this GC Vehicle Holster Mount.

May not be perfect but I like how you guys are thinking. I've been racking my brain on how to do it in my Express. Keep those ideas flowing.

All things being equal- Idaho ( my home turf) I keep my side arm on my hip in a holster, while driving legally. I have a CWP and it allows the weapon to be "on the person" while driving. Idaho is an open carry state with the exception(without a CWP) that being in a vehicle the weapon will be off the person and secured out of sight ( and I believe unloaded).
After all that OK I need not MOD my rig to carry..

Keep mine in my door panel. (There is a thread i started on this) i can shoot right or left hand so it's no big deal. I like the idea, just wanted to make sure u wouldn't be a victim of a broken window and stolen property.

As always, might want to check with the regulations of your specific area and/or areas travelling through to verify what is legal and what is not.

Not a lot of LEOs 'round these parts are fond of fast access to a weapon, permit or no, (one separation mandate), and several security areas to private facilities impose requirements as well depending on your employment.
Just sayin.
