Surely it can't be this difficult to install the top tether on an express crew cab?

Manual says there should be loops behind the outside seat positions, only think I can find is an upside down U, when I route the top tether straps behind the upside U and tighten it frequently falls out. Also, are an adults hands supposed to be able to fit between the seat and window, because mine barely do.

Just wondering if others have had problems with this as the manual is incorrect for my vehicle.

Any advice greatly appreciated....

Also, is there any way to fold the seat back down towards the seat bench? Maybe folding down the back will l help access the stuff behind the seat back.

Thanks in advance!

To followup, after playing around with this some more, there are straps as indicated in the manual, they are just difficult to find. Once I found them, I was able to follow the instructions.

I will say that I would prefer an anchor right behind the seat, as this doesn't see like a great way to secure the seat.

Judging from the number of views (and no replies) it seems that others are also vexed by this topic.

I have one of my kids seats in the middle seat, and I "think" the top anchor is just a fabric loop. On all other vehicles, it's a metal loop. Is there something else back there besides this fabric loop? It doesn't seem rather dumb.

Yes the fabric loop is not ideal, and can be a PITA but that material is seatbelt webbing so I'm sure it will be intact during an accident.

Try installing 3 tethered car seats across the back at once, especially since your supported to loop tether through above strap and tether to adjacent strap. I have been known to cruise around with my brothers twins from time to time, and with our daughter thats 3 tethered car seats. I swear it takes 30 secs to clip latch straps in, but 5 mins to properly run tether strap lol

The fabric loop, it works fine. My advice is to tighten the top strap as best you can BEFORE the base belt since the 2013+ Headrests are bigger and bulkier than the 09-12 headrests. At least the car seats we have work this way since they are too tall to run underneath the head rests.

I guess it just threw me for a loop (ha) because every other vehicle has had metal loops, and I could secure my kids seats via the top anchor and get zero side to side play.

I have my CC set up so my 4 year old son sits in the middle, and his 7 month old sister sits right next to him. We flip up the single seat for extra storage space that won't fit in the RamBox's.

Question - based on Crazycanuck7403's comment "takes 30 secs to clip latch straps in, but 5 mins to properly run tether strap" - does that mean there are LATCH system connectors in the center rear position? I have been in the crew cab at the dealer several times but keep forgetting to check for those quick-connect latches in the rear center. Thanks.
