The cruise control will let your speed fall a few MPH before picking back up; what do you mean by intermittently?

I don't like it so I pretty much always use my foot

I had my steering wheel switch replaced because on 3 occasions my cruise control wouldn't turn on for a couple weeks to a few months. Then out of the blue it would start working again. Hasn't acted up since replacing the switch a year ago.

What I mean is that the cruise control will turn on sometimes and other times it will not. I though at first that it was temperature sensitive.

I had my steering wheel switches replaced twice. So far so good. The Ram dash electronics leave much to be desired. A couple of times a week when I get out to open my ranch gate, upon closing the door, the radio jumps channels. Never does it while driving.

I am having the same issue with the CC. I went to the ram dealer today and they would not tell me if this issue would be covered by warranty when obviously it should. The truck has 17 months of the 3/36 bumper to bumper left. The guy kept saying he couldn't say it was covered because if the issue was from something spilled or rodents eating wires etc... etc... then it's not covered. I was like well if you get it in there and look at it and tell me it's not covered how much is the diagnostic. He tells me 85 dollars. I said well if it's a part failure then it's covered right. He goes well not if it's broke. Because of misuse. I wanted to throat punch this ****er lol. I went to the dealer I bought the truck from and they said oh yeah this is warranty work. Let us make the apt and handle the ram dealer. Man I hate big chain dealers... love my hometown dealer! Wish me luck on the fix!

Mine is doing the same thing especially in warmer weather for some reason, colder it gets and stays there is not much of a problem. Once it get past 60 degrees it is hit or miss if it turns on. However I have found that if I hit the brakes it will start working again (most of the time)

Mine does it also. I push the cruise button and nothing happens. ten minutes later it works. I thought it might be cold temperature related, just the opposite of an earlier poster. I have no idea what it is.

I've experienced non-functioning cruise control a couple of times. I mostly drive around town & to work so don't use the cruise on a daily basis. Then when I want to use it after a few weeks it doesn't want to turn on. So far, if I jab the button a bunch of times (5-10) it finally comes on. Seems to me like it's building up some oxide on the contacts and just need to wear it off to make contact. If I try it again within a few days it works. The problem with that is it will just get worse. So I need to not use it for awhile and then see if I can get it to fail for the dealer before my warranty runs out. Don't want to have to pay to fix it down the road. I really love the cruise on road trips.

OK guys, I took my truck to a dealer so they could check out the CC not working intermittently issue. The tech found 2 stored codes, one for low voltage and one for CC not being read or something... The tech also said that the truck was due for 2 computer flashes according to the factory. I took the truck to another dealer to get fixed (long story) But all they did was complete the 2 computer flashes to fix the problem. first flash was for PCM and second flash was for RFH.

Side note: I also experienced my steering wheel radio controls not working along with the actual in dash radio volume knob not working. You could see the radio was on and working but no sound whatsoever. I had to push the media button and then the radio button before the sound actually came on. Then all the steering wheel buttons worked and the volume knob on the dash unit worked again. Dealer was aware of this as well. They said all issues were fixed with those 2 computer flashes.

Naturally these computer flashes are covered under warranty but only for the length of the bumper to bumper warranty (3yr/36k) So get your trucks in and fixed before you run out of warranty guys.

a couple of days ago mine wouldn't turn on, then a minute or so later it did. next day, nuttin....$h!t the bed. hasn't worked in a couple of days now. First problem I've had with this truck. I don't use it except for my trip into work in the morning. its mostly freeway or interstate and at 0300 hrs there aren't many cars on the road except LEO's so I set it for around 65 as to not draw too much attention. they're pretty good and they let us run at that speed....just don't go 71.

I have a real problem with having to flash the computers in all this new gear. Not just cars but pretty much everything you buy. If it's worked for a couple of years why the he!! should it need a flash to keep working? It's not like it's on the internet and we need security updates or anything. How can it just stop working? I'm pretty sure mine needs a new switch, I do need to take it in soon while it still has warranty, no way I'm buying an overpriced extended warranty. Never have and never will.

I haven't had this problem but my trucks drops out of CC from time to time for no apparent reason. Usually then I'm cruising at 60-70mph.

My Cruise wold act up, they replaced the button. Now, when it is cold, the thing will not work until the cab heats up. Looks like time for the button to be replaced, yet again.

I'm having cruise control issues after having the exhaust studs replaced on both sides. I bought the truck new, never a problem for 40,000 miles. Dealer replaced exhaust studs, cruise didn't work for the first hour then came on and worked perfectly for the next 300 miles. A few days later left to go home, cruise would not turn on for the first hour, then worked perfectly for a couple hundred miles. Stopped for gas and it hasn't worked since. Have an appointment Thursday with same dealer to look at cruise problem. Maybe a coincidence and it's a switch but I'm thinking something they did when working under the hood. Any suggestions, or has anyone had the same issue?
