I have a 2014 Ram Express with factory tow package, it is a Hemi with 6 speed tranny. This is the first vehicle I've ever had with a tow mode and cruise control So I'm wondering if you can use the cruise control while you have the truck in the tow/haul mode. The reason I would like to use the cruise along with tow mode is I'm having a hard time keeping the truck under 70/75 when pulling my 2 horse trailer. I never know the trailer is back there unless the horses shift there weight. I'm thinking that I should have gotten the 3:92 gears in stead of the 3:55 maybe then the truck would have been happier at 60/65. She wants to run at about 1800 to 2100 rpm on flat ground which is going to get me contributing money to the state. So what do you more experienced Ram owners recommend all help greatly appreciated and thanks. Carol

So far in 5500 miles, 2900 miles has been pulling trailers on two different trips. All of this has been in the tow/haul mode and at least 75% of that has been on cruise control. I know my engine and transmission is different but I feel sure yours was designed to use cruise control when in the tow/haul mode.

Having messed with Dodge or Ram since '96, I have found that the tow/haul and cruise control work together seamlessly. the only thing to watch is when climbing hills the cruise control will downshift without warning. may supprise you but will not hurt anything.

My '09 Ram 1500 while in Cruise Control does that downshift the same way, when on flat land & then starting up a 6% grade
The Speed Sensor allows the speed to drop about 4 miles per hour below the set speed & signals the computer to bring it back up to your pre-set speed
It will do this whether or not you are towing

Hey all thanks for the information, I was hoping that I could use the cruise control with the tow/haul mode. I really couldn't see why I couldn't but not knowing these new trucks and computer systems I wanted to get help from folks more knowledge able than me. Thanks so very much for the help. Carol

I tow on long roadtrips once/month. Towing can be tricky. With a heavy trailer the envelope of control is much thinner then just driving down the freeway. Lots of bad things can happen. I'm not a particularly risk averse person, but there's no way I'd tow with cruise control on. I'd suggest that the best fix here is a human fix.

I use the cruise control all the time with my trailers. I have a Motorcycle trailer, a double jetski trailer, an ATV trailer... and my boat. (about 5500 Lbs fully loaded)
