This is my first post so ill start of by sayin Hi

im looking to Fab my own Swing out tire carrier for my 01 Ram...

Im just wondering if anybody has any experience building these or even had any pics or advice for me... i already have my basic design but im looking for a little constructive criticizem.

im unsure if this is the right place to put this.. if not i will gladly repost in the proper place...

I had one on my '56 chevy 1/2 ton, that thing worked sweet, i never had to kneel down

Looks like it would work well but im lookin to make 1 i can mount like you see on the jeeps with the tire mounted up on the rear bumper...

Somthing like this

if your gonna mount itto the top of the rear bumper, make sure you make a plate to go on the underside where your mounting it as the bumper itself aint very thick and would bend the top of it from the weight

yea i plan onreinforcing it with half inch steel

I wish i had known that you wanted one like that, in my searching, there were several swing out, upright spare tire mounts

Maybe something like a HitchGate by TIREGATE? Easier than fabbing up bumper inserts.

Thanks man that looks pretty good... i might look into that instead... i have all my matereals but just havent had the time to build it.... But i might look into gettin one of those or atleast makin one... Thanks again

any luck on a tire carrier? thinking of starting my own build....leaning towards a "tiregate" setup. thoughts?
