What I'm trying to do is use my factory 4.10 down carrier with 5.13 gears. I havent been able to locate thick 5.13's and so I am looking to get a ring gear spacer. I know no one makes these so I'm going to a local machine shop to have them make me one. So I was wondering if anyone here knows the thickness difference betweenthe two carriers. If I can get them made cheap enough I'll let you guys know.

Are you running a locker or LSD? The cost to get a spacer machined will probably be more than just replacing an open carrier.

The 70U is a pain, that's for sure.

I used to work for Dynatrac. Might be worth a call to them to see if they have either the thick Dana gear or a premade ring gear spacer.

I have the factory lsd. But don't have the money to buy a locker and don't want to lose what I have downgrade from what I have now... The cheapest open i've found was over a hundred bucks and the local machine shop isnt too expensive. I'll have to make a few phone calls this week.
