I managed to bag a deer a month ago ... driving home, one decided to race me. I'm not sure who won, the deer jumped up (after rolling, and rolling, and rolling, and rolling......and rolling) and ran off. The truck still ran, but got around $6k worth of bodywork. A new front bezel, grill, reinforcing bar, fog lights, drivers mirror, and a few other things. Luckily for both of us, the deer didn't come up over the hood (oh, got a new hood too - dented the old one).
Insurance took care of it, no problems.
One thing surprised everyone...after the body shop was done, it felt a little 'off' in steering, so I arranged for a front end alignment. Wow! EVERYTHING was way the heck out of spec. This is after replacing the tie rod ends and an alignment soon after I got the truck. Got it all dialed in, and it's running much smoother now.
