I looked at those hard and sort of regret not getting one still...

My big concern with those is the fact they're supposed to handle...IIRC 1600 lbs. There are two folding panels anchored to the centre panel which is attached to the bed rails with four clamps (2 per side).

Loads would presumably be tied down to the bed cover using the optional cleats - meaning that in a panic stop or emergency collision avoidance maneuver, all that weight is essentially being held to the bed rails with four clamps. Maybe it's rock solid and I haven't examined one up close but that was my big unanswered question.

I'd love to hear from someone who actually uses one to carry loads and see how the clamping system has held up.

Diamondback cover

I started this thread to get feedback from owners of Diamondback bed covers. Diamondbacks best cover is the HD which can handle a 1600 lb. load on top. Before I spend $1900+ I would like to hear the good and bad about the product and the company. Would anyone like to share their experience with this product?

I found this on YouTube for Diamondback truck covers. The President takes you through a tour of the manufacturing process. Not a lot of people seem to have Diamondback truck covers, but from a lot of research they seem to be the most heavy duty and well built. They are pricey and only certain dealers are authorized to sell them. Also, I would guess many people end up buying a tonneau cover of another easily accessible/popular brand before even hearing of Diamondback. I'm ordering the HD with LineX, front window guard, and ramp.

I can only comment on the ones that you can load ATVs on. I've seen them used for that and while well made I would be too scared to drive an ATV up the very long ramp - too high for me

Plus I'm sure without suspension work a truck would not handle well with all that weight up high.

A buddy of mine has the 270 on his F250. He went to great lengths to source and get it with no regrets at all.

I had one my chevy then bought my ram loved it on both I had hard rhino sprayed on both and never had a problem like the way it opens from both sides allowing access from front and back of the bed also the ability to lock the whole bed is great I found it very close in price to full fiberglas caps but I like it much better and have had nothing but compliments and have 3 other people actually buy one after seeing the one I have

Just received my HD yesterday. Will go on the truck when it is delivered Monday. Everything I have seen, read, watched, does not give me concern. I love having the access to the bed. Being able to load on top is just a bonus for me. Not sure I'll ever get the 2 ATV side load package, but if I do I won't have any worries.

As for worry about the height, don't drive like a maniac and you'll be fine. The rural mail carriers have much higher caps and they drive all the back roads of WV without problems.

Diamondback HD is installed, minus the full cab guard. I hauled a dining room table and chairs with it the next day over 650 miles with no problem.

The cab guard instructions suck IMO. I went step by step, following each direction and recommendation. There is a point where I had to drill two holes into the cover. The directions say to make sure nothing will get in the way of the "bolt." Well, there are so many screws and washers that come in the kit that I didn't think about clearance for them too...drilled two close to a welded crossmember and of course, a gigantic washer needed to go there. Not to mention, the cab guard gussets flared out so that I would have to do some extreme bending just to get them to secure to the cover and not impede tie down cleats. Fortunately Diamondback has a great customer service and wants pictures/is working with me to fix the problem. I foresee them having to send me a new front panel and cab guard that fits right.

That aside, I love this cover and would buy it again. It allows you to haul heavy loads and weatherproof cargo underneath, something no other bed cover can give you.

I will post once picture I have taken after I first installed it then with the whole ATV package set up after I get this cab guard issue taken care of.
