On my 2001 2500 my diesel gauge doesnt work anymore. I know its getting power cause when i turn the key the needle moves up a little but doesnt ever move beyond empty no matter what level the diesel tank is. i think it is the connection on the gauge from the sender. but not sure how to check it out to determine what it is. any advice???

Had similar problem with my '97 2500 Diesel: Used engine hoist to lift the front of the bed (removed two bolts in front, loosened two in back) to access the top of the fuel tank. Block the front of the bed just in case the hoist lets loose!
Removed the fuel gauge sending unit and the float arm was almost falling off the pivot - not contacting the coils at all.. Used #6 (I think) lock nub from Ace Hardware to tighten the float arm to the pivot and it's been working great since! Dusty under there, so clean thoroughly before opening the fuel tank. Good luck!
