Ok guy's , i have waxed my truck 6 times already since i have had it. now the base of the the Antenna is turning white because of the wax, so aim asking to see if anyone on here knows how to remove the base? I would like to take it off and paint it to match the truck.

Humm...i have yet to wax my truck, and my antenna looks the same as yours. I was thinking of painting it also. Sorry i couldnt be any help, but im curious myself...

Instead of painting it, have you guys tried a conditioner. Wax always caused my plastic to dull. What I do is I apply Turtle Wax liquid ice. It is safe on all exterior surfaces and reconditions my plastic and protects it. I use it on the plastic bed rails as well to keep them black and looking new. Just a thought. Plus liquid ice is a great wax if you don't want to go crazy every wash.

Not sure how to pop it off. I use Meguiars Back to Black, works great on all black trim.

It's not the wax that's doing it, it's just UV exposure. It's unavoidable. You can remove it by unscrewing the nut at the top, the one with 3 grooves in it. I tried Back to Black and a few other products, they all had varying degrees of success, but none of them really looked good. I was going to paint it, plasti-dip would probably be an even better option, but I ended up getting a new antenna base. I got it through the parts department at the local dealer, it cost around $6.

@ ironsides... I know the nut your talking about with the 3 groves.. is it a special tool?

I'd like to know this as well. The whole theme of my truck is black and white, and my antenna is blueish...would like to paint it black.

Ironsides, how did the new antenna base hold up? Want to either change mine or paint it. It discolored a few months after I drove the truck off the showroom floor. Just wanted to know if your replacement has done better than the original one. If not, I might use the $6 to buy paint to color match mine to the truck.

The base still looks good, I'm not sure if it'll continue to look that way, or if it'll fade like the first one. I've seen a few people paint the base body color, that usually looks pretty sharp.

Goin by the dealer this week. They retail for a whopping $1.12 in my area. Also gonna pick up a can of color match paint and try my skills on the original crappy looking one.
