I've been researching drilled and slotted rotor, i want to know has anyone tried the Detroit Axles rotor and brake kit, and which one is everyone using on their truck.
In July of 2017 my 2013 1500 needed brakes. I went with the Power Stop Z23 K2164 rotors/pads on all four corners. I was very impressed with the performance of the brakes so in April of last year, I installed the Z36 K7141 Power Stop kit on my 2015 3500. For those of us that run HD's, you know the break pedal needs above typical pressure to stop the truck, the Power Stop brakes fixed that.
I'm sure there are other equally performing brake kits available, my only experience is with the Power Stop solution and I will likely keep using Power Stops.
I haven't changed the brakes on any of my trucks yet but have used them on my Jeeps and noticed improvement in braking. I generally order my brake parts from Summit Racing. I think I also used the Power Stop pads and rotors. I did use some Green EBC pads once and had the pads separate form the backing plate so have never used them again.
I changed out my 15 SLT CC 4X4 brakes at approx 12k miles at approx 18 months. The rotors went to shit in that short of a time here in the snowbelt and the pads were crap from day one.No bite to the pads.Felt like you needed both feet to get it to stop most times.Replaced with a relatively cheap set of slotted, drilled coated set of rotors and ceramic pads off of e-bay.I think they were called Max Brand Brakes.$260 Can. to my door in a couple of days for all 4 corners and these were the best set they sold..I've wrenched for a living for 35+ years and these looked as good or better than any rotors I've ever pulled out of a box.Brakes worked far better than the OEM's did right out of the gate. They were still working perfectly 2 1/2 years later when I traded it last fall.
Detroit axle is a decent brand. Get Ceramic pads with the new rotors you should be fine. I also use Power Stop slotted and dimpled rotors. I just installed them on my 06 Nissan xterra. Made a huge difference. The ceramic pads also don't leave brake dust all over your rims.
Thanks to everyone that replied to my post and thanks Omac, for you advice on the Detroit axle brand, i think am going to pull the trigger and get this brand, but i been using Bendix Fleet heavy duty brake on my stock rotors, but i guess its time for a change.
