I’m looking to up grade my 2005 Ram 1500 and am considering a diesel for my current 27 foot trailer (and possible bigger trailer in the near future). My concern is that I won’t put enough miles on the truck on a regular basis. I’m guessing 3 to 5 thousand a year with long periods of not driving at all. My concern mostly is with the DEF systems. I know DEF has a somewhat short shelf life and have read many horror stories about trucks being disabled and expensive repairs to get going again.

Diesel 1500 or 2500? 27' is a little long for me to tow a trailer that long regularly with. Why not a gasser if you're putting that little mileage on it?
