Hey all new guy here.... Ok here is the project with my questions. I want to install Hid's i have no problem doing this but... Thinking of just putting 55W low beam bulbs in and PIAA 6" rounds in the grill for my highs. Question is does the low beam wire stay hot when i flip the hi's on??? Another option is if i get hi/lo HID bulbs are the lows 35w and the hi's 55w? Might try cracking open my heads to paint bezel and install projectors but dont think i am going to go that far right now.:4-dontknow: Sorry for the ramble but want to right the first time!!!

Thanks Ryan

they would be 35W for both hi/lows as the hi/low hid is just a tilting bulb, I have a set in my Challenger, the bulb just tilts to reflect the light differently, it is not a dual filmant bulb.

What I would do is run the single output HID and run the grill lights off the hi beam wire from the headlamp wiring.

When you turn the highs on, it cuts the lows. What I did was ran my relay for the grille lights off of a 12v ignition controlled circuit and added the switch to the cab. Unless you want to run two trigger wires with rectifiers off of both the high and low circuits I recommend just running off of a 12v circuit

The 4th gens are fun.......

Here's a run down of how they work:

Duals - the low beam will turn off when you hit the high beam.

Quads - depends on the country you are in.

US - the lows stay on with the highs
Canada - the lows go off when the highs are hit.

Gotta love it.

My lows stay on with the highs, pretty sure all the 4th gens with quads run this way regardless of country.

Mine stay on too......but I have a US spec'd truck.

trust me..........they go off on the Canadian trucks. May have something to do with their DRL system, but in the end..........they don't stay on when the high beams are hit.

oh, to make it more fun? If your US spec'd truck came with duals and you swap in quads, you won't have the lows on with the highs.

I think your thinking of the fogs go out when the highs go on. Canadian truck here and the lows stay on with the highs.

But, I'll leave it at that, no need to get in a pissing match.
Sorry didn't mean to come across as causing a pissing match
