My 2022 had a HPFP failure at 18,000 miles. Been at the dealer since Aug 24, 2023. They have ordered and received an updated pump (part number 68631088AA) and all injectors and other fuel system parts. Installation starts tomorrow. The part is out there and going into failed trucks first, then the recall will start.
Any updates on how your fix went?

Waiting for an update myself here. My 2016 hesitates all the time, you can never go below 1/4 tank or the check engine lights come on. We try to keep it above a half tank and let the truck warm up before driving. Sucks Chrysler is dragging feet on this, my truck is pretty reliable other than that. As is I cannot do anything that requires lots of power but at least she still is driving.

There's no reason to stop building trucks. The existing pump has a very low failure rate
The entire issue is there is no replacement pump available yet, the dealer is not to be blamed
John, There are pumps available! I have a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee and went to have the "camshaft" recall resolved on 14 Nov 2023. I informed the dealership that I was still waiting for the Recall - HP fuel pump, to be replaced too. While waiting for my car the dealership noticed that they had 3 high pressure pumps on the shelve. I said please resolve the recall for that also.... I will gladly wait all day to get it done. About an hour later I was informed that FCA would not allow the dealership to use the pump on my car because these pumps are designated only to be used on "NEW CAR SALES!" Whereas, the dealership can not sell a new car with a recall, if someone buys a new car then FCA will approve the repair so as to complete the sale. The only thing I am not sure of, is if the Ram and Jeep use the same pump

I think that is so wrong for the FTC to allow this whereas I can NOT sell my car or even trade it with the open recall.

so, the ram ecodiesel high pressure pump is recalled as it can destroy the entire fuel system if not engine. recall announced but they say no parts can be found, yet the parts are all over the internet at every parts store, ebay and amazon. In otherwords, Mopar is trying to hose us. My truck down for 2 weeks, some down for a year. They need a big a## lawsuit.

Parts are available for sure. Mopar Parts Canada has it for $953.61 CAD. Dales Super Store new for $849.95 USD. Re-manufactured on Diesel Logic $479.99 USD. I also called my dealer Red Rock Auto of Watford City, ND to ask if parts are available yet. Obviously no, the parts are not available yet according to them. I live in Colorado Springs but work in North Dakota. My truck has started popping codes for low fuel quantity and even shuttering at idle every now and then. I do run an additive for additional lubrication but I know its only a matter of time. The last thing I want is to be stranded in North Dakota or for my vehicle to be stuck there until God knows when. Will RamCares do anything about this?

I believe all the HPFPs you mention are CP4s. The recall will be installing the new CP3 pump which is starting to arrive, it is not available in the aftermarket.

Called the dealership. They are ordering parts for all four of my current recalls: VB1, W58, Y63, and Z46. Since I know the parts aren't available for Z46, I plan to try to get ahead of this myself. The pump hasn't grenaded yet, there was no metal in the filter over the weekend, and I'm going to check the FCA/Regulator for metal shavings just to be sure. However, my symptoms seem to be more in line with a lift pump starting to fail than the high pressure pump. Questions: #1 Is there any kind of rebuild kit for the lift pump or does it require complete replacement? #2 Will I be reimbursed if I purchase the lift pump myself as part of the Z46 recall, or should I leave this to the dealership? I'm 100% confident doing the work. Additionally, the pump sounds fine. I'm just getting the low pressure codes, extended cranking, and intermittent stalls. I'm not confident driving until this is fixed as I have heard a failing lift pump can lead to a grenaded high pressure pump.

I have no expertise, just my opinion. You have probably correctly diagnosed the problem as being the lift pump. Everything I've read is when the HPFP goes there are no symptoms that it is failing, it just happens. Regards your question #1, I don't know. Question #2, No.

Dealer just got permission from Stellantis to fix my ecodiesel. The issue is that the new pump would not be available till Jan 2024 at least. The service team said they are not allowed to put the older pumps in, even if new. The end is in sight and the strikes have stopped. My truck has been out of commission for the past 2 months at the dealer.

I'm told the original fuel pump is available for replacement on the 2014 model but not the new updated pump. Worst case is the pump fails and they install an original pump to get you back on the road. I suppose if you are worried about being stranded on the road you could have them replace the pump at your expense until the new pump is available.

On June 8, 2022, Chrysler issued recall Z46 for possible failure of high pressure fuel pump in 2014-19 Ram 1500 trucks with 3,0 liter ecodiesel engines. Monthly calls to my local Ram dealer reveal that Chrysler has no replacement parts available and that there is no anticipated release date for parts.
I’ve started posting queries on twitter to @StellantisNA and @RamTrucks asking about the recall. I’ll soon add @MotorTrend and @RoadandTrack.
Any luck on that high presure fuel pump, I have a 2015 economy desiel in the dealership that case been setting over 7 months now. Speaking with case representative no parts are avaliable still (Dec 2023) Dqealerships refuse to install aftermarket parts and no parts avaliable. Been looking into how to start class action suit, was looking at lemon law and attorneys suggesteded class action. May take some time but I belive this will be the only way.

My recall has been out since last summer. My truck has been down since august 22. There is no ETA on the repair at this time. At my dealership alone, they have 10 trucks down waiting to get a fuel pumps. They can’t get them which is slowing the process. Sounds like fuel pumps is a bad issue from 2014-now. They have a stop sale on all new eco diesels at the dealership as well.

10 months in the cryo chamber now...😴

Do not jump to assume you should buy a fuel system on ebay or another dealer.
Do not attack the dealer—honestly, they have nothing to do with this and hold almost no authority in decision-making on this matter.

The reason it's taking so long is because FCA needs to re-engineer the entire system, and this is not the only system that needs to be re-engineered. The fuel systems they have sitting on-site are merely a temporary fix for warranty holders, and even those replacements need to get signed off by corpo (which can be hit-or-miss.) They messed up badly, they got caught with their pants down one-too-many times, they're getting sued left and right, they're losing lawsuits left and right, and now they're "playing it safe" at this point.

Installing a fuel system you acquired on ebay, or an aftermarket, will get you back on the road ASAP but it will not alleviate the risks of reoccurrence. The fuel system is fundamentally flawed. If your aftermarket is modeled after the original, then it's also flawed. So, base your decisions with that in mind.

Try to set this issue on the backburners and do something else with your life. Do not let this take over your life. When thinking about timeframes, start thinking in months instead of days or weeks.

Do make make attempts to seek reimbursement if this has affected your life, as well as a temporary vehicle. This can require anywhere from 2 to 5+ calls to FCA to make it happen, depending on who you get and how well you can control your tone 😉
