Eco is just a light that tells you when your driving fuel efficiently, it's MDS that shuts the engine down to 4 cylinders
Just cause the Eco lights on doesn't mean your trucks only firing on 4 cylinders
Putting it in 5th will keep mds off

Tow/haul will also keep the MDS from kicking in. Also, on mine, the ECO light only comes on when the MDS kicks in, I can hear it by the change in the exhaust note and it matches the ECO light exactly.

This will not work on a 4.7 since you do not have MDS.

You need to pay more attention. The ECO light only is on when in 4cyl mode! "5" takes it out of eco! Also does tow/haul but that also keeps the converter from locking and rpm's stay up a couple extra hundred!

It states in the owners manual that ECO is lit on Hemi vehicles when the MDS is active. Since it lights up in the same situation where MDS would be kicking in on the 4.7's you could assume that you are driving economically (aka the engine is not under stress).

No disrespect, but your statement is incorrect... shifting the transmission into '5' will disable the ECO mode on the Hemi. It will reset each time you shift out of that gear, however. This works on my 2011 1500 5.7L Hemi.

You are correct but it doesn't permanently disable it which is what i thought he meant. While that does work though. Glad u mentioned it!
