How heavy will be the trailers be? The hemi tows pretty darned well. My 1500 has 3:92 gears, if I could have gotten 4:10's I would have. Big difference between the Cummins and the hemi, you have to rev the hemi to 4,000 or more rpms to get big power and the Cummins pulls like a train at low rpms. I'm just going to throw it out there if your loads are less than 15,000 lbs, the hemi will be fine, cheaper to maintain. I have 210,000 extremely hard miles on my hemi Ram, couldn't be happier. I used to tow a 32' fifth wheel with ease, have towed fifth wheel trailers up to 15,000 lbs (way over limit) on a 1500, but it still did ok.

I agree, if towing heavy, go with the Cummins. If you don't tow heavy and its more of a daily driver, get the hemi. The reason I say this is the price difference between diesel and gas, its been near a dollar higher for diesel for the last several months in my area.

Transmission? Same answer, towing heavy get the Asisin.
