I have the factory installed tow package with the factory controller I'm new to trailer pulling so was wondering should the brake control setting stay on the setting when ever you shut the truck off as long as the trailer is hooked up or will I have to reset braking level? also does the brake controller setting display stay on the instrument gauge center while the trailer is hooked up or does it go out after a few seconds. I have had a trailer hooked up and my display goes off after a few seconds want to make sure it is right also can't tell for sure that the setting is being the same as I restart the truck after stopping for fuel and lunch. Thanks for any in sight to this. Carol

I understand how the setting should feel and work but I'm wanting to know if once set does it remain set there when ever I shut the truck off to make a pit stop and while driving does the heads up display on the instrument screen show that the trailer control is on or does it come on for a few second and then go off. Mine currently just comes on when I'm selection what trailer I'm pulling and the setting I want then after selecting the set up the heads up display goes off. So is this the way it should work.
Thanks for any help on this and have a great 4th to all. Carol

I"m thinking it should stay at the setting you put it on, but since I don't have mine yet I can't say for sure. (May 17th build, delivery soon I hope).

I'm sure someone else on here will be able to answer definitively.

On the aftermarket brake controllers, so I would imagine the same for an OEM, the setting remains unless you change it. Also with my (Prodigy 2 BC), the display is dark when the ignition is off, but when the ignition is turned on, the display comes on. If connected to the trailer it shows a "C", then when the brakes are applied it shows the amount of brake pressure applied. Every unit may operate slightly different, and as I mentioned mine is a Prodigy 2, but I would imagine there are similarities to your OEM BC. Hopefully someone with an OEM can confirm this for you.

The settings are retained to whatever you last left it at.

You can select the brake controller gauge to appear in the display as one of your gauge options. This is done with the steering wheel controls. Check your manual. I put mine in the lower left. If you haven't yet programmed these extras, this area may be blank right now. It's kind of a vertical gauge display.

Towed with my truck twice now (6500 lbs camper) the settings will stay from one trip to the other. If you go to the trailer tow menu in the center info cluster you can select "trailer tow" and it will stay there and show the gain being used when braking & the trailer is connected. I love it, used a stand alone one for years in my 2003 that worked great too.
I also have the 5.o radio.
