Went camping this weekend, parked my truck next to my buddies Tundra....what the hell are the body panels made of, tin foil?

Its clearly obvious how much thinner the body panels are by just pressing with your fingers on the door, roof etc.

Also dented the front fender, climbing on the tire to clean the window and my knee barely bumped into fender...sigh!

Yes they are thinner for sure, gotta be careful. when they switch to aluminum they will be thicker and more dent resistant. Until then find a good PDR guy.

I got caught in a hail storm with mine. Three times as much damage as my neighbors F 150. Embarrassing really. I guess you get what you pay for.....

Reason they`re thin...
1) Savings in materials = cost
2) Savings in weight = mpg

It is what it is...PERIOD
But there is NO EXCUSE for shitty/dirty paint jobs.

They are all getting thinner, I think GM has about the worst. My coworker has a 2008 sierra and you can see the metal on the hood flapping in the middle going down the interstate. GM added more shapes into the body work to try to minimize the the waving of body panels and add streghth on the 2014's but its still thin. I'm interested to see how the Ford does with the Aluminum. Ford says its stronger but time will tell.

Everything on the Tundra is just about beefier and stronger... heavy pig.. but a durable pig that also comes with a hell of a price tag...

I'm not sure that I would. Every time that it hails, which it does here 3-4 per season, I'm going to have to dish out $250 for my insurance deductible for repairs. That will more than eat up any savings in fuel.

I took this photo a few months back. Pic doesn't really show what was evident with the eyes - the frame/bed sagging just being on a lift.

Everything on the Tundra is just about beefier and stronger... heavy pig.. but a durable pig that also comes with a hell of a price tag...

Toyotas are garbage and i love when people think they can tow a space shuttle hahaha. i love that pic right there ^^^^^ btw that's awesome! would you tow with a truck that cant even support its own weight? no. i cant stand Toyotas or their owners..im gonna go rip the rear end out of one with my truck as soon as possible lol

Dodge has been doing some aluminum panels since 2005 my 2007 SRT8 Charger has an Aluminum hood it's pretty thick and dent free, not sure why they only did one panel in aluminum, the car weighs 4600...
